We’ve had an amazing week in gaming! Gamescom saw some of the biggest announcements of the year with both Microsoft and Sony still showing they have plenty of surprises left for next-generation consoles. As we do every week, Gamer Grub have searched the web to bring you the very hottest gaming news for this week. We’ve got everything from the Playstation 4 release date, to the best lineup Xbox has ever seen.
Xbox One Launch Titles Confirmed
Arguably one of the most exciting announcements to come out of Gamescom 2013. Microsoft revealed an impressive lineup of confirmed games for their next-generation console, the Xbox One. They’ve got a great mixture of new IP’s, popular franchises and of course, Zumba Fitness: World Party. Other games included in the lineup can be viewed below:
|Peggle 2||Powerstar Golf||Ryse: Son of Rome|
|Skylanders: Swap Force||Watch Dogs||Zumba Fitness: World Party|
|Zoo Tycoon||Need for Speed: Rivals||NBA LIVE 14|
|NBA 2K14||Madden NFL 25||Lococycle|
|Table Cell||LEGO Marvel Super Heroes||Killer Instinct|
|Just Dance 2014||Forza Motorsport 5||Fighter Within|
|FIFA 14||Dead Rising 3||Crimson Dragon|
|Call of Duty: Ghosts||Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag||Battlefield 4|
Twitch Confirmed For Playstation 4
Yet more exciting news to come out of Gamescom is the official confirmation of Twitch.TV support for the upcoming PlayStation 4. Twitch is currently the leading livestream service, attracting millions of gamers every single day.
The announcement of the PlayStation 4 was almost immediately met with requests for Twitch.TV support, and Sony have responded to those requests. PlayStation 4 players will be able to instantly stream to their channel with a single touch of the new “Share” button featured on the DUALSHOCk 4 wireless controller. Watch your channels live, explore a universe of content and share your experiences with the simple push of a button. Twitch.TV and the PlayStation 4 are bringing livestreaming to your living room!
Gamescom Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag Trailer
Even more exciting news coming out of Gamescom. Ubisoft revealed the latest video footage for the next addition to the critically acclaimed action adventure franchise, Assassins Creed. The video showcases over 5 minutes of game play footage from the upcoming Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. Although the footage was impressive, it hasn’t come across well with viewers.
People attending the conference likely had a much better view of the video than those of us watching from home. For some reason the video footage kept scoping around the audience or focusing on the developer playing the game, rather than the actual title itself. However, there’s still plenty here to wet your appetite.
Watch Dogs Gamescom 2013 Trailer
Another awesome trailer to come out of Gamescom and for another Ubisoft game, Watch Dogs. Arguably one of the most anticipated titles as we reach the end of this generation, Watch Dogs is looking to give players a whole new experience in the gaming genre.
The video offers a brief look a features we’ve already seen so it’s not exactly fresh for fans. However, it does give an additional insight into the story as Aiden Pearce struggles against the odds and Dead Sec deny all involvement.
Sony Announce Certain AAA Games Purchased On PS3 Can Be Transferred To PS4
Although some industry experts believe Microsoft has gained favor following this years Gamescom, Sony pulled yet another sucker punch on the PR struggling giant that is Microsoft. During the event the developers behind the PlayStation 4 revealed that certain AAA games purchased on the PlayStation 3 will be transferable to the PlayStation 4 at a “Severely discounted price”.
They never announced the exact size of the discount but for a company to use the term “severely discounted”, it’s fair to expect a pretty big price drop. Current confirmed games include Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Exclusive Xbox One Content Announced For Tom Clancy’s The Division
Yet more exclusive content announced for the Xbox One but this time for the highly anticipated addition to the Tom Clancy franchise, The Division. It was announced during the Gamescom event while the livestream was off air but sadly they didn’t really give much away.
We weren’t given any details regarding the type of content available but it is official, there will be some added incentive to purchase the game on Xbox One. Tom Clancy’s The Division is expected to launch sometime during 2014.
Brand New DayZ Alpha Video With Dean “Rocket” Hall Walkthrough
The original DayZ mod still proves to be incredibly popular today and despite the many delays, the standalone title is still one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Originally the DayZ alpha was intended to launch last December but unforeseen issues with the multiplayer structure has meant players are still waiting to sample the first alpha release.
The new video released at this years Gamescom has Dean “Rocket” Hall walking VG24/7 through a pre-alpha gameplay demo. He also states that once the network bubble is complete the game will enter its first public testing phase, although he did not state exactly when this will occur.
New FIFA 14 Gameplay Video From Gamescom
Gamescom is the king of the hottest gaming news this week! As we approach the final month before launch Electronic Arts released a brand new video from Gamescom following developer commentary of some new gameplay footage. The first 7 minutes see the developer and hosts discussing some of the new features before heading into a full match.
It’s a little disappointing to see the return of very familiar animations from FIFA 13 and FIFA 12 but outside of that, the game looks totally fresh. The on-ball movement mechanics and defending appear to be completely different but don’t take my word for it, check the video out.
Timesplitters: Rewind Pre-Alpha Video Footage
This is not a joke. We’re not even close to April 1st. There is a new Timesplitters game confirmed to be releasing on the PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in 2014. Timesplitters is one of the most iconic FPS franchises in the history of gaming, and arguably one of the most requested sequels in the genre.
The video above is a pre-alpha video, recorded after just 3 months in development so you can expect far better textures, graphics and animations in the final version. Also confirmed is the compatibility for cross-platform play between PlayStation 4 and PC users.
Wow! What a week. Gamescom always brings out the big guns but I don’t think anyone was expecting all of this. Be sure to check back next week for the hottest gaming news.

There is simply no bigger story to begin our hottest gaming news article this week; it’s the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal video. The video features almost 60 minutes of intense multiplayer action covering everything from the new dynamic map features to class builds and loadout options.
The multiplayer reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts is arguably the most anticipated story of the year and Activision pulled it off with some real class. Check out the video above before taking to the conversation in the comments section below.
Microsoft Announce Xbox One Launch Delay In 8 Countries
Microsoft continue to struggle with positive PR for their upcoming next-generation console following the announcement of a release delay for the Xbox One. During the Xbox One E3 showcase Microsoft stated that they aimed to release the Xbox One simultaneously in 21 different markets, however that number has now been reduced to 13.
Sadly Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland will all have to wait until 2014 before they’re able to get their hands on the Xbox One. Microsoft mentioned localizing the Xbox One Dashboard and Kinect voice features as the main culprits for the delay.
Call of Duty: Ghosts To Include Female Soldiers
For the first time in the history of the biggest entertainment franchise ever, players will be able to create and progress with female soldiers. The news follows the official multiplayer reveal video but this particular part of the video has stirred many a forum community.
The information follows the Create-A-Soldier segment of the reveal as players were treated to whole new levels of customization options. For more information be sure to watch the multiplayer reveal trailer at the top of this post.
PayDay 2 A Success Before Launch
The successor to the surprisingly popular PayDay has already been branded a success following pre-order numbers. The developers announced that the pre-orders alone already managed to cover the games development costs, making post-launch purchases complete profit for the developer and publisher.
PayDay 2 offers co-op action as players work together to pull off an exciting variety of heists. Rob the deposit boxes of a well secured bank, hit up a jewellery store in a speedy snatch and grab, and even protect vans transporting illegal items. The game has met mixed receptions since launch but there’s still time for improvements via updates and DLC.
Grand Theft Auto V – Brand New Official Game Trailer
Rockstar, commonly referred to as the god’s of hype and PR, have released yet more information on Grand Theft Auto V; this time in the form of a brand new game play trailer. The new trailer centers around the Grand Theft Auto Online aspect of the upcoming best-seller.
The video goes into great detail on the activities available to players in Grand Theft Auto Online. Whether you want to enjoy structure missions and objectives or just take to the open road with your friends, it’s all possible and waiting in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Square Enix Throws Away $16 Million & Cancels Game Development
A studio that many seem to feel is struggling financially should probably not just discard $16 million in funding after cancelling an undisclosed game, but Square Enix have done just that. The developers of the popular Final Fantasy franchise have struggled recently following financial loss reports for multiple quarters in the last two years.
It was announced that the game in question was being developed by IO Interactive, the only European studio under Square Enix, but the exact title and nature of the game have yet to be disclosed. We may hear more in the future, this may be the last we ever hear of it; but one thing is certain, that’s a whole load of cash to be throwing away.
Be sure to check back next week for the hottest gaming news with Gamer Grub.
Another week passes and Gamer Grub have dissected the web for the very hottest gaming news. Last week we saw some exciting new screenshots for Grand Theft Auto V, a new Watch Dogs leak and a release window for the highly anticipated Battlefront. This weeks hottest gaming news offers even more juicy information on some of the most popular upcoming titles remaining this year.
Left 4 Dead 3 And Source 2 Valve Leak
The good people at Valve recently gave DOTA 2 subReddit members an opportunity to tour their Seattle offices but I don’t think even they expected this to happen. During the tour one of the members managed to snag a photo of an internal change log, think of it as an electronic notice board. On this change log was information regarding Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2. The Source engine has been behind all of Valve’s most successful titles since its original release with Counter Strike in 2004.
We’ve known for some time that Gabe Newell was planning to release a new version of the popular engine as he was previously quoted saying they were just waiting for a game worthy of launching it. The co-op zombie shooter touched the hearts of thousands and the news of a potential sequel is sure to please both the competitive and zombie gaming crowds.
New Battlefield 4 Video Showcases Ultra Settings
A brand new Battlefield 4 gameplay clip has been released, showcasing the graphical capabilities of the famous FPS title when pushed to the very brink. The new exclusive video clip demonstrates what Battlefield 4 may look like on ultra settings as seen on the Pixel Enemy YouTube channel.
Graphics aren’t everything but when a game looks this good, they certainly help. The dust particles flying off the pillars, the debris falling from the sky, it all combines to create a truly atmospheric experience.
Potential Woes For FIFA 14 Cover Art
It was revealed in July that Gareth Bale would be the new face of the FIFA 14 front cover alongside the legendary Lionel Messi. At the time Gareth Bale was a leading man for the English Premier League team, Tottenham Hotspurs, but since then speculation has been rife regarding the Welsh players future in the English divisions.
Footballing giants Real Madrid have placed a record-breaking offer of £85m for Gareth Bale, topping that of the previous record held by Ronaldo (£80m). Should Tottenham decide to sell Gareth Bale, which is seemly extremely likely, the cover will have to be changed to feature Gareth Bale’s new kit. That’s not the only potential problem though as FIFA UK has always featured a player from English leagues on the front cover. Currently only Messi and Bale have been revealed so there may be the addition of a third player at some point should Tottenham take the offer.
Nintendo Going Big At Gamescom
With Gamescom rapidly approaching every developer is doing their best to grab the headlines but none more so than Nintendo. Despite current concerns over the success of the Wii U the iconic studio is holding nothing back for the upcoming event in Cologne.
Nintendo have announced that a large number of their upcoming titles will be available to play on the show floor. These titles include Mario Kart 8, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, Sonic Lost World and Pikmin 3. The naysayers can call doom and gloom all they want, with an upcoming lineup this huge; the next-generation is still a 3 horse race.
Square Enix Reveal Gamescom Lineup
Sticking with the theme for this years Gamescom, Square Enix recently revealed their list of titles set to impress the German audience towards the end of this month. They have confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Final Fantasy X/x-2 HD, Thief Murdered: Soul Suspect, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Remaster Kingdom Hearts Hd 1.5 Remix and Deus Ex: The Fall will all make an appearance.
Additionally we could expect to see some footage from Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III following an image of the stage setup. This years E3 may have come and gone but some developers have saved their big guns for Germany.
New Dead Island Game Confirmed
The original Dead Island was met with mixed receptions from critics and players and its successor, Dead Island: Riptide, stirred even more controversy on the review tables. However, both games were considered a success financially and the next installment has been announced, but not as we expected.
Dead Island Epidemic will be a free-to-play MOBA game, similar to that of League of Legends and SMITE. That’s pretty much all Deep Silver wanted to say about that, but we’re expecting to see more from Dead Island: Epidemic in the coming weeks.
Dominic Monaghan Lets Slip New Uncharted Game?
Dominic Monaghan, best known for his roles in Lost and Lord of the Rings, recently let slip information regarding a potential addition to Naughty Dog’s hugely popular Uncharted franchise. Speaking during a conference call regarding his work with the live-action Bureau: XCOM Declassified series, the Lost actor spoke about his passion within the gaming industry stating he was “really excited about the next Uncharted game”.
Uncharted is one of the biggest names missing from Sony’s next-generation lineup and despite Naughty Dogs massively popular Last of Us release, they don’t currently have any new games announced. Uncharted is sure to tip the scales should it be announced before the release of the next-gen consoles.
Call Of Duty Ghosts Multiplayer Gets Official Reveal Date
Microsoft has just released a new teaser trailer detailing the official global reveal date for the upcoming multiplayer mode in Call of Duty: Ghosts. We already reported on this last week but this week marks the launch of a teaser trailer detailing the same fact.
I remember a time when a teaser trailer was actually a tease for the game, and not a reveal of a reveal. The community didn’t respond too well to the video, mainly due to the complete lack of in-game footage but I’m sure they’ll be tuning in on August 14th anyway.
Check back next week for another dose of the hottest gaming news!
It’s Sunday again and you know what that means! With the launch of a brand new site Gamer Grub bring you the very hottest gaming news for the week ending 07/28/13. The latest releases may dry up a little during the heated Summer months but that doesn’t stop the biggest names in the industry releasing new screenshots, videos and details about their upcoming games.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Could Be Releasing In 2014
You’re probably not surprised to see a Call of Duty related segment in our hottest gaming news article but you may be surprised to see that it’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, not Call of Duty: Ghosts. LinkedIn is quickly becoming a popular source of rumor and speculation and that trend continues with the rumored leak of a 2014 release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Some keen eyed visitors to the professional networking site spotted a profile from an individual that works at Sledgehammer Games; a company previously used for a variety of graphical development tasks.
In that profile the individual states that he is currently working for Sledgehammer Games on “Photo real visual effects for the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release”. The individual has only been with Sledgehammer Games for a few months so he may not have been aware that Modern Warfare 4 wasn’t actually announced yet…yeah right.
What do you think? A simple mistake from someone looking to beef up their portfolio or a fact-based remark?
FIFA 14 Ultimate Team Screenshots Showcase New UI
Electronic Arts recently released some exciting new screenshots for the hugely popular Ultimate Team Mode in the upcoming addition to the massively popular soccer franchise, FIFA 14. The screenshots don’t really give too much away but they do showcase an entirely new UI, which from here seems more fluid and streamlined than its predecessors. You can check the screenshots below in our FIFA 14 Gallery.
Electronic Arts also recently revealed that FIFA 14 Ultimate Team Mode will work with both current generation and next-generation consoles. This means players can purchase FIFA 14 on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 and enjoy the same team, transfers, chemistry and other functions on both the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.
Dead Or Alive 5 Screenshots Released: Some Even Fully Clothed
You would not believe how long it took to find a Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate screenshot that was actually related to the combat within the game and not, well, the “assets”. Dead or Alive has long been one of the greatest titles in the fighting universe and it’s all set to wow fans yet again.
Whether you enjoy the fluid combat, the deadly grapples or the devastating counter-attacks, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate features everything for casual and hardcore fans alike. Dead or Alive 5 builds on the series with new characters, new game modes and tons of new costumes.
Exciting New Screenshots Released For Assassins Creed 4
Assassins Creed is one of the biggest selling titles of our time. The franchise has expanded into one of the most successful IP’s in Ubisoft’s arsenal and it’s one of the main reasons Watch Dogs is getting the attention that is it today. Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag will build on the ship and sea combat featured in the previous title, but as a much more focal part of the game.
Everybody knows the deadliness of any assassin but one that can strike fear on both land and sea is a force to be reckoned with. With the release scheduled for October 29, 2013 in North America, we’re still a ways of sampling the next addition to the Assassins Creed franchise but these screenshots can help sweeten that sour wait.
Xbox One To Offer “Unlimited Hard Drive Space”
Despite Microsoft’s recent report regarding the sales success of the Xbox 360, nobody has forgotten the lackluster reveal for their next-generation console, the Xbox One. What followed was a number of poor PR mistakes, severe booing at the EVO event and other comical mishaps.
However, it appears Xbox One fans finally have a string of positivity to cling to. During the first ever PAX Australia, Microsoft confirmed the use of the Cloud as additional storage, granting players almost an “unlimited sized” hard drive. They also continued to push the Cloud’s supporting capabilities, most of which we’ve heard before. It’s probably not enough to tip the sales figures but it’s sure to impress those already saving for their Xbox One.
World of Tanks Developers Not Happy With Xbox One Certification Process
[pullquote]”We are working with them to do quicker updates,” he said. “We will see, there is a lot of work on the technical side and on the administrative side which should resolve in the acceptable quality of the product, including updates of the product including speed and rates. So we will see.”[/pullquote]
It was recently announced that the highly popular free-to-play MMO game, World of Tanks, will be coming to the Xbox 360. However, it appears that the relationship may be under strain following the comments from Victor Kislyi, the CEO of Wargaming. In an interview with Polygon he expressed his concerns over the lengthy certification process that Microsoft uses, placing heavy delays and unneeded strain on developers of free-to-play titles.
As it stands the Wargaming CEO’s current thoughts are that the system in place is totally unacceptable for a meaningful free-to-play title. It’s unlikely that we’ll hear of any changes between the Xbox One and World of Tanks deal, but it’s refreshing to see a developer willing to stand up against the console giant.
Corporal Hicks Aliens: Colonial Marines Was “Passionless”
One of the stars of the granddaddy of science fiction cinema, Aliens, recently called Aliens: Colonial Marines a “passionless” project with the pure intent of making money off a huge franchise. Michael Biehn, the actor from the original Alien movie and more recently the voice of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon star Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt, expressed his disappointment with the project in an interview with Game Informer.
When comparing the two projects Biehn said that Aliens: Colonial Marines “wasn’t fun at all” as “some people that are just going through the paces”, lacking the passion needed to create a truly exciting game experience. When asked about his experience with Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon his response couldn’t have been more in contrast “one of the things that I really, really enjoy working still in this business is finding people that have that kind of passion.”
Vendetta Online Becomes First MMO To Use Virtual Reality Technology
Guild Software have announced that their free-to-play MMO game, Vendetta Online, has become the first ever MMO to implement virtual reality features. The space themed MMO title now supports the Oculus Rift family of virtual-reality headset devices.
Vendetta Online isn’t the most popular MMO on the planet but it has been going strong since its release back in 2002 and the game has continued to impress fans the world over. It was one of the first MMO games to support cross-platform play and is also available on a multitude of devices. It’s not the Hottest Gaming News this week but being the first to add virtual reality to such a popular genre is nothing short of impressive.
Grand Theft Auto V Player Customization And Pets
Any article boasting to include the Hottest Gaming News and not having an article section dedicated to Grand Theft Auto V deserves to be nuked from orbit so here we go! An eager GTA fan recently took to the popular image sharing website, Imgur, to share his thoughts and opinions regarding the clothing and character customization in one of the most anticipated titles of our generation. We’ve already been treated to a variety of videos, screenshots and press releases but it’s nice to see a fan taking it upon themselves to share some exciting stuff.
Viewing the gallery below you can see all of the outfits currently worn by Michael, Franklin and Trevor, and you can also see some of the animals in the game that could potentially be made available as pets.
