When you think of the wonder awaiting those brave enough to explore the next-generation, what comes to mind? It’s unlikely that the first thing you think of will be a Destiny Bird Simulator or a realistic fish simulator for Call of Duty: Ghosts, but they are both involved in the big talking point making the rounds at the moment. If you’re currently scratching your head in confusion I’ll do my very best to bring you up to speed.
During the slightly sketchy Xbox One reveal by Microsoft the next addition to the ever popular COD franchise was obviously going to make an appearance, and that it did. Despite showcasing some of the best features coming in Call of Duty: Ghosts many fans decided to hold on to one particular aspect of the reveal, the addition of realistic fish that move when the player approaches. To say this is a next-generation feature would be nothing short of complete garbage as even the oldest console games can boast fish that react to player movement. But anyway, that’s what a lot of people decided to take away from the reveal.
Moving on and critically acclaimed and award-winning developers Bungee revealed their upcoming project, Destiny. Already predicted to be one of the best titles available on both current and next-gen consoles, Destiny promises to reinvent the FPS genre with a heavy focus on social aspects and multiplayer play. I wouldn’t say both games are in direct competition as they are both approaching the FPS genre from a very different direction. However, that doesn’t stop Bungee from taking a slight dig at Call of Duty: Ghosts in a recent video commentary over the E3 reveal.
The obvious remark occurs a couple of minutes in but take a look at the video and see if the joke is as obvious to you as it is to me.
