Review: Gamer Grub

I got my hands on some Gamer Grub today, two different flavors of the four. Smores and BBQ. The packaging is neat, and unique. Colorful with a large and unique logo up top as well as as a photo of the different parts of the snack on the front. The bags are hand held in size and contain approximately 3.75 ounces of foodstuff. On the back of the packaging is all the informative goodies including the nutritional information and the ingredients list. There is also a little blurb explaining what the snack itself contains.

The first flavor I opened and tried was the BBQ. The smell was pleasing, strong, with a hint of smoke, tang and spice. The BBQ flavor contains Smoked Almonds, BBQ Corn Nuts, Spicy Peanuts, Toffee Peanuts, and Honey & BBQ Sesame Sticks. The blend is very interesting and immediately it lights up the taste buds. You are hit with a strong BBQ flavor, folowed by a little bit of heat, a little bit on tang, and on occasion you will a sweet crunch from the toffee peanuts. I was curious about the addition of the sweetness into the BBQ, since it didn’t seem like it would make for a good taste but it is very pleasing when it all comes together. The individual flavors are good, but you get a much better taste if you consume the product a ‘mouthful’ at a time.

The S’MORES flavor is for the hardcore gamer with a hardcore sweet-tooth. It is a great alternative to sticky chocolates and candies and still packs the sugary sweetness you desire. S’MORES is made up of Smores Bites, Marshmallow Chips, Graham Bites, and Chocolate Gems. The individual tastes of each of these pieces is very pleasing, although, like the BBQ it is best enjoyed by the mouthful. All of the flavors blend well together and produce a tasty product that isn’t overwhelming sweet or ‘sickingly sweet.’ I think Gamer Grub found a good balance here.

The best part about the product is the ‘tear and eat’ bags. They are easy to grip, open, and seal back via a zip-lock that keeps the snack fresh. But being able to easily handle the snack makes multitask eating a breeze. You can grab and go quickly, getting a little bit of foodstuff without missing any of the action. No greasy fingers, no mess, just yum. It’s excellent for the gamer who isn’t interested in a large meal but wants to feel nourished and full. There is plenty of snack per bag and should fill just about anyone up. I would highly recommend this product and I am interested in trying the other two flavors. Be sure to check out the Gamer Grub website HERE and order your own. Thanks to Keith, the founder of Gamer Grub for giving me some samples to test. So what are you waiting for? Go get you some.
