Xbox One Struggling – Booing Heard At EVO 2013
Microsoft continue their uphill struggle to change the opinions of gamers regarding the Xbox One but it appears that journey has been victim to another setback following EVO 2013.
Shortly after the Injustice: Gods Among Us Grand Finals, Double Helix and Madcatz took to the stage to showcase a triple match presentation for the previously highly anticipated Killer Instinct. If you’re not familiar with the EVO, it’s the pinnacle of competition in the fighting genre. Players from around the globe come together to compete in various titles such as Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter x Tekken and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. As such you would think it the perfect platform to reveal more footage for such an iconic fighting title, but sadly that didn’t prove true.
The developers from Double Helix took to the stage and seconds after the footage was shown, the crowd started to boo and chant “Marvel”. The main booing began once one of the hosts mentioned Killer Instinct being an Xbox One exclusive, something the crowd were already aware of; not that it made a difference. This wasn’t just a small portion of the crowd. The booing was so loud the host could hardly be heard when speaking into the microphone.
I can’t help but feel sympathetic towards the two hosts. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are, dealing with a hostile crowd while live on stage is no easy task. Check out the video below and leave your thoughts in the comment section.
