Sniper Elite 3 Development Confirmed
Rebellion and 505 Games have just confirmed the development of the sequel for the hugely popular Sniper Elite V2, Sniper Elite 3. Scheduled for a 2014 release, possibly on the next-generation consoles, Sniper Elite 3 is looking to boast brand new environments, an enhanced game play experience and an in-depth storyline.
The game will follow the exploits of the elite OSS sniper from the previous games, Karl Fairburne. Outside of that, very few details have been released.
“Sniper Elite V2 has been a great success for us and we are thrilled to partner with Rebellion on Sniper Elite 3,” said Ian Howe, president, 505 Games North America. “Fans can look forward to the same heart-pounding action they have come to expect from a Sniper Elite game as well as refined and new features that will blow them away.”
Sniper Elite V2 was a huge 2012 hit, despite many critics saying it would fall short. I’ve been a fan of the series since the very beginning and it’s not hard to see why. There’s something very gratifying about watching a bullet travel in slow-mo as it rips through 3 targets half a mile away.
As well as the next-generation consoles players can also expect a PC release. Many are worried about the previous games port to the PC as it removed one of the titles most defining features, co-op play. Hopefully that same mistake won’t be repeated and we can enjoy ridiculously long-range shots alongside a buddy spotter.
